The T-Mobile my Touch 4G hit store shelves this morning. This model is one of this carrier's first high-end Android OS-based smartphones, and and is its first with a front-facing camera.

It has a tablet shape dominated by a 3.8-inch,WVGA (800 x 640) touchscreen, giving it a display that is significantly larger than most of this carrier's other Android OS -based models.

Text is entered with an in-screen keyboard, and users have the option to use Swype.

The latest myTouch runs Google's Android OS 2.2 on a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and is bundled with an 8 GB microSD memory card.

It has support for T-Mobile's HSPA+ service, which means it is able to wirelessly transfer data fast enough to rival or surpass current 4G networks. It also has Wi-Fi, and users are able to make calls over Wi-Fi or 3G.

This smartphone includes a 5 megapixel real-racing camera, as well as a a front-facing VGA one for video conferencing -- a first for a T-Mobile smartphone.

Like all Android OS-based models, the myTouch 4G will come with an extensive suite of entertainment and communication software.

It is available in a range of colors: black, white, red, and plum.

Pricing and Availability
The T-Mobile my Touch 4G is available now on T-Mobile's website and in its retail stores. It is also being offered in Best Buy, Costco, Radio Shack, Sam’s Club and Target stores.

It sells for $200 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a qualifying two-year voice and data plan. Those who don't want to sign a contract can get it for $450.
